More Snow!!
It's snowing again today. It's been snowing since early this morning (9am) and it hasn't really let up since then. They're forecasting another 1-3 inches in some places, with as much as 9" in the East mountains. The interstate East of ABQ is closed all the way to the Texas border, and the other interstate North to Santa Fe is supposedly closed now as well.
I'm hoping to get out of here soon; I've got a meeting around 1, and then I'm going to try and get home so I'm not on the road with all the other yahoos that don't know how to drive when there's a little bit of moisture on the road, let alone a couple of inches of snow!!!
WISH ME LUCK!

Long time no update
I haven't posted anything personal in a while so here's a sort of update of what's been up.
Still working, just going through the daily grind doing the same-old-same-old. I need to hang on a little longer an the regional IT position I want to apply for is going to be posted. I also get my stock options in March for reaching the 6,000 service hour mark. Erin and I are gearing up for the holiday, Erin's family will be here the 22nd through the 26/27th. I haven't done any Christmas shopping yet, I've got a couple of ideas for people; otherwise I'm clueless.
I'm studying to take the A+ certification exam early next year and my regional coordinator is going to be spending a day here at my store so I'm going to ask him what kinds of things I can do to prepare for the position I want to apply for. I'm thinking of also going after the Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA) certification as well.
I've got an additional computer in the house now, I got it from someone I work with who bought a new Mac Pro. I've been messing with it and µbuntu Linux; got it working then I tried something else so it's kinda in limbo right now. I was going to convert it to a DVR, but the TV-tuner card in it isn't supported by the linux I put on it to record TV.

Make 'em work for their pay!!!
I don't normally post political opinion but I wanted to with this article about the upcoming work schedule for Congress.
Rep. Steny H. Hoyer, the Maryland Democrat who will become House majority leader and is writing the schedule for the next Congress, said members should expect longer hours than the brief week they have grown accustomed to.Culture Shock on Capitol Hill: House to Work 5 Days a Week - washingtonpost.com
It's about time these people actually did the work they are getting paid to do; the work they were elected to do!!! Republican Jack Kingston from Georgia said it was going to negatively affect families:
Keeping us up here eats away at families. Marriages suffer. The Democrats could care less about families -- that's what this says."I'll be interested to see how this all plays out in January.

Top 11 Geek Gifts ... sort of
While this list is funny, there are more practical and funny stuff that I've seen on other "top xxx" lists for geeks. I really like #11
11. One year of "no computer questions" from everyone in your family. But I actually like getting questions from family/friends. I just wish that I didn't live so far away so I could actually work on the computer in-person instead of trying to help via phone/email. Oh well...
